We are currently looking for Health and Safety experts at any level to join our growing team and help shape the future of our region. A bit about you:

You will be passionate about Health and Safety coupled with a strong desire to support improvements and drive the implementation of best practice within the organization.

As a member of our "HomeSafe team" you will embody the responsibility of ensuring our employees are able to return home healthy and safe to their whanau each day.

A solid understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act and its practical application is essential to fulfil the role. Ideally, you will have a Health and Safety Qualification or training and a desire to attain one.

Your day will look like: Variety! With a diverse workforce our teams require the full gambit of H&S support. Needless to say, that whatever your skillset you'll get some level of exposure to systems, data, reporting, risk assessment, investigations, compliance audits, reviewing policies and procedures, educating staff, and supporting staff to return to work post injury, sometimes all in one week. The key to your success in this role will be your ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization to influence and bring about change.

You'll also recognise the importance of the role as a Treaty partner and understand how that underpins Gisborne District Council's work.
