We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environment Manager with enthusiasm and drive to take this maturing business on a journey. Reporting to the General Manager of the NZ Site and the Global Head of HSE and working alongside the NZ Leadership Team, you will be responsible for HSE across the NZ site.
You'll need to be an HSE generalist with strong technical knowledge. We are looking for someone who has a hands-on, action orientated approach who will educate, influence, and inspire, to lead positive behaviours, shaping a "safety first" and people orientated culture.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
• Leading the on-going development and implementation of the HSE strategy and HSE Management System, seeking accreditation to ISO45001
• Advising and coaching team leaders on HSE compliance and statutory requirements
• Driving continuous improvement of the HSE systems to ensure they protect our staff and meet the needs of the business, clients, and legislative requirements
• Ensuring the development and implementation of HSE training programmes
• Oversight of the Incident and Emergency Management processes
• Oversight of Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, and Injury Management systems.
• Working within the global HSE group to share information and collaborate on common issues

Your knowledge and experience will include success in a hands-on HSE leadership role, preferably in a manufacturing and/or laboratory environment. An engineering background or interest in hazardous substances would be an advantage. In addition, solid understanding of health and safety legislation, principles and practices in NZ is a must have. As this role is widely influential across the site, excellent verbal and written communication will be needed.
