The Christchurch City Council is on a journey to make health, safety and wellbeing the way we do business.Our work is diverse and our Health, Safety and Wellbeing work is no different. From infrastructure, community events, recreation services, outdoor parks, visitor attractions, libraries and our facilities. We have a responsibility for not only our people but also the community that utilise our services.

With an established Health, Safety and Wellbeing framework in place, we are now recruiting a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager to build onto this platform and take us on a journey of continuous improvement. Having a high degree of visibility across all operational areas, this role will lead a team of Health, Safety and Wellbeing professionals, as well as the implementation of the Council's Health and Safety, Wellbeing strategy.

Specifically, this role will focus on the following:

- Developing a high-performing team that provides expert advice, risk management solutions and support to the organisation

- Advising at the Executive level around new initiatives and implementation of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing plan

- Taking the lead in managing critical risks across the Council and provide assurances they are managed effectively Engaging with the Executive Leadership Team for all safety-related reporting and communication

- Coaching senior leaders to manage critical risks

- Providing direction on the continuous improvement of the Council's Health, Safety and Wellbeing management practices

We are looking for a strong, experienced leader, with exceptional skills in building relationships who also has sound technical experience within the Health and Safety, Wellbeing industry.

Given the complexity and diversity within Council, you will ideally be experienced in working in a similar sized and type of organisation with strong Health, Safety and Wellbeing practices. You will enjoy the benefits of flexible working as well as ongoing opportunities for development.

- Hours of work - permanent, full-time position

- Salary - $94,704 to $139,781 per annum

- Location - This position is primarily based at 53 Hereford Street, Christchurch
