About the company

Our client manages a diverse range of property, maritime and transport assets right across the district. They also play another important role, which is utilising the assets and their expertise to boost investment and employment in the Far North for the benefit of communities and local businesses.

About the role

You will provide the expertise to ensure a high level of health, safety and wellbeing standards are in place and best practice initiatives are embedded across the organisation, through the senior leadership team.

Responsible for all areas of HSW Risk Management and corporate governance issues – reporting to the COO, you will drive improvement to the agreed levels and hold overall control of the HSW processes - supporting business units to take the initiative with regard to highly proactive implementation, as well as learning lessons from investigations, audits and the like.

Skills and experience

We anticipate you will already be working at a relatively senior HSW level, or ready for a step up – you may be thinking of relocating to the Far North and just awaiting the perfect opportunity.

This is a great opportunity to play a lead role, taking on the responsibility of all HSW elements, including monthly reporting to the Board and CE. This is a solo role, so you must be happy to roll your sleeves up, get the admin done and also work well at the leadership table.

Supporting the understanding through influence and engagement, you will enjoy building and fostering a culture that enables all staff to have proactive involvement with critical risk decision making.

• Relevant qualification in Health and Safety (Diploma level preferred)

• Sound and practical/working knowledge of legislation

• Experienced with investigations, audits, reporting etc.

• Outstanding communication skillset required, with a natural ability to build relationships

• Energetic, outcome focussed and an ability to drive innovative thinking
