Formed in 1941, Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa – Playcentre Aotearoa (Playcentre) is a licenced early childhood education provider and charitable trust. It is a bicultural organisation committed to honoring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and celebrating people’s uniqueness which has a philosophy of empowering ‘parents as first educators’. Playcentre seeks to empower whānau and tamariki to work, play, learn and grow together, and today has over 400 centres nationwide.

Reporting to the HR Lead and responsible for a team of five Regional Advisors (to be recruited), you will work with the National Team and Trustee Board to implement the health, safety, and wellbeing strategic direction. This will involve assisting with the design and high-level implementation of the health, safety, and wellbeing framework and providing specialist support, guidance and advice on health and safety matters across the leadership ensuring best practice and compliance is achieved.

You will build relationships of trust and work proactively with staff and Centre members to act as an influencer to build a proactive HSW culture within Playcentre and to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the management of HSW.

There is plenty of scope to add value using your H&S experience to ensure the organisation is operating in the safest, most efficient, effective and best practice manner. Person Profile:

• Have a proven track record in a similar position and demonstrated success in transforming the culture of Health, Safety & Wellbeing within an organisation

• Proven experience of operational and strategic management, including leading, managing, and motivating teams

• Sound knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act 2015

• Have high level of initiative with effective planning, project co-ordination and organisational abilities

• Possess superior communication, problem solving and analytical capabilities coupled with sound judgement

• A consultative and open style with a ‘no surprises’ approach

• Recognises the “big picture” in issues while also attending to detail

• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite, incident reporting systems/software (previous experience with GOSH system would be advantageous)
