Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor

Central Otago District Council is seeking an experienced health and safety professional to work as part of the People and Culture team to deliver Council’s health and safety objectives.

Part of the People and Culture team, this full-time opportunity reports to the General Manager - People and Culture. This role will maintain the Health and Safety Management System and deliver a programme of projects. This role provides a balance of hands-on activity and strategic thinking, where no two days will be the same.

Our ideal candidate will have;

• relevant experience paired with a relevant qualification(s) in Health and Safety Management, project management, or occupational wellbeing.

• Registration with a health and safety organisation, such as HASANZ or NZISM, is preferred.

• Interpersonal skills and getting the right fit for our team are essential, so we are seeking high energy and initiative from our new team member.

• Effective communication, negotiating skills, problem solving ability and critical thinking skills are a must.
