The role

In this role you will support the Health Safety and Wellbeing Manager and partner with service managers and H&S reps/ committees across the organisation.

We are inviting applications from professionals with a relevant Health and Safety qualification who have a sound track record of creating a positive safety culture, and who ideally have experience in a health environment. This role contributes to the development, delivery, promotion and evaluation of a legally compliant and continuously improving health, safety and wellbeing programme for NMH.

Responsibilities:

* Develop health, safety and wellbeing training and education material for staff and managers

* Guide and coach managers and H&S Reps/ Committees on all health, safety and wellbeing matters

* Assist in the identification of critical safety and health risks and follow escalation processes

* Actively participate in internal and external audit programmes

* Monitor and evaluate health and safety hazard registers

* Rollout safety and wellbeing initiatives

Skills and experience:

* Ideally at least three-five years in an operational health and safety role

* Diploma OHS Level 6 (essential)

* NEBOSH International General Certificate (desirable)

* Experience in auditing for Health, Safety and Wellbeing

* The ability to coach and influence positive change

* Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams in a complex organisation

* Understanding of bicultural issues

* Excellent organisational and communication skills

* Adaptable to change and a flexible 'can do' attitude

* Experience and understanding of the health care environment (desirable)

Although based in Nelson, this position will require travel across the Nelson Marlborough district.
