About the company

New Zealand’s largest specialist coal company, proudly providing employment within the region, 3815 MMaramarua is an opencast mine located in the Waikato region of New Zealand producing a low-ash, low sulphur thermal coal for the domestic market.

Maramarua has a long history of coal mining with an opencast mine first being developed at the site in 1948. It has been mined in modest quantities since that time. The coal produced at Maramarua has a low sulphur and ash content, making it ideal for steel production. The biggest customers for Maramarua’s coal are local dairy plants and a steel mill.

Successful production at Maramarua comes from a favourable mining environment and well-equipped infrastructure.

About the role

Support the Health, Safety and Training Superintendent in ensuring mining and related activities are carried out in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, Health and Safety at Work Mining and Quarrying Operations Regulations 2016 and Bathurst Resources Policies and Standards.

Playing a pivotal role in incident reporting and investigation activities, you will manage and maintain crucial documents and records, accurate data entry and effective scheduling to achieve Health and Safety objectives. You will actively participate in risk management, initiating and participating in analysis and discussions of risk management tools.

Skills and experience

• Experience with information/database management

• Organised, logical and process driven

• Relevant tertiary qualification

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
