About the role

With operational sites across NZ, PNG and Fiji, this growing Australian business is seeking an experienced contractor to provide a level of BAU assurance whilst they look to appoint a new permanent HSE Lead.

With a hands-on, practical approach you will work closely with both the P&C team and the wider Group HSEQ function. An ability to build strong relationships with plant management is key to your success. Strong communication and influencing skills are a must in the fast-paced manufacturing environment. Day-to-day, you will provide expert HSE advice, ensuring that strategic HSE objectives and targets are met. As a standalone safety position across the NZ business, you must be able to hit the ground running, working in a highly autonomous and outcome focused manner.

Our client has two sites in New Zealand (Wellington and Auckland) with approximately 100 staff. The position would be based in South Auckland with flexible start times available.

Duties

• Provide high quality advice and guidance to managers, supervisors and operations

• Manage incident reporting and investigation

• Facilitate the safety committee meetings

• Manage site compliance – PPE, induction training etc

• Operate as the site Return to Work coordinator

• Maintain existing systems including ISO 14001

• Undertake site audits

• Report to the Group HSEQ Manager

Skills and experience

• Relevant tertiary level health and safety qualification

• Modern, forward-thinking approach to safety management

• Prior manufacturing/industrial experience is essential

• Current knowledge of NZ health and safety legislation

• Prior experience of using SharePoint would be advantageous
