About the role and duties:

Reporting to the CEO, the successful person will be comfortable in a highly visible and active leadership role in this space – someone who thoroughly enjoys building relationships on site and engaging with a truly diverse workforce.

The business encompasses a wide range of operations, many involving humans interfacing with machines. There are well developed health and safety protocols in place and an organisational culture that prioritises worker well-being. Although significant progress has been made in the last few years - the opportunity exists to take health and safety to a new level taking into consideration the work as imagined vs work as done approach.

The role will have frequent interactions at SLT and Board level.

There are 2.5 FTE’s reporting into the role and you will therefore have experience with mentoring, supporting and managing your team to excel, as well as grow their careers in an exciting direction.

Skills and experience include:

The successful candidate will have significant experience and the technical health and safety knowledge to provide credibility, influence and motivation at all levels of the business.

• Relevant tertiary level qualification in Health and Safety

• Critical/high risk experience along with development and leadership of work programmes

• Proven ability in leading cultural transformation of the health and safety function so that it delivers better outcomes through higher levels of engagement

• Working closely with the operational leaders to ensure that health and safety initiatives are an integral part of how everyone operates on a daily basis and longer term

• Ensure that appropriate health and safety measures are in place and that these are getting the visibility and review they warrant

• Incident reporting and review, providing for a culture of continually learning

• Provision of monthly reporting to the Board of Directors, with regularly engagement

• Keeping abreast of relevant legislative/regulatory developments in the external environment and update policies to reflect changes
