An opportunity has arisen for an experienced health and safety specialist to join the Port Nelson team to assist with ensuring health, safety and wellness best practices continue to be driven through all Port Nelson’s operations. This role will develop your career in a forward-thinking organisation, where you will have a real impact on protecting your colleagues.

Reporting to the Senior Health and Safety Advisor, the focus of your role is to ensure Port Nelson maintain the highest standards of health and safety. Port Nelson are proud of their positive safety record and have robust systems in place, therefore the focus of your role will be to influence culture and behaviour. The key tasks within this role include reviewing and updating H&S management systems, conducting audits, incident and accident investigations, risk assessments and reporting. In addition to BAU responsibilities, you will lead change and improvement projects to elevate Port Nelson’s position as a leader when it comes to the care of their people.

To be successful in this role you will be well versed in relevant legislation, best practice and current trends in health, safety and wellness. You will have experience working in safety sensitive, high complexity environments, and demonstrated success leading positive change that directly improves outcomes. A partnering and influential style is needed, as are skills building relationships with a range of people. Quickly getting to grips with key operational issues and developing pragmatic solutions is required. Your practical experience will be complemented by relevant safety qualifications.
