Health & Safety Advisor

Timaru, South Canterbury

NETcon is an industry leader when it comes to operating and maintaining electricity networks in the South Canterbury region. We look after a dynamic network that covers the area between the Rangitata and Waitaki Rivers, from the coast inland to Mount Cook. Based in Timaru,. We are looking for a talented and outcome focused person to fill the role of Health & Safety Specialist and be part of our diverse team.

What’s involved:

• Co-ordination of the NETcon safety management system, health and safety incident reporting and investigation process

• Planning and organisation of compliance and competency training

• Facilitate and co-ordinate audit schedule

• Co-ordinate and ensure Risk Management Reviews are completed

• Assist with preparation, reviewing and updating of health and safety documentation and records

• Responsible for co-ordinating health & safety inductions and compliance checking.

• Ensure health and safety, compliance and competency training are undertaken by staff and contractors.

• Co-ordinate first response to incidents and events

We will be looking for someone who has:

• Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety and / or significant experience in a Health and Safety Advisory role (minimum 3-5 years);

• Extensive knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, the Electricity Act 1992 and associated regulations;

• Previous experience in the electricity supply sector preferred

• Excellent reporting skills both written and oral, including knowledge and experience in working with Microsoft Office.

• Eligible to work in New Zealand, with New Zealand citizenship or New Zealand permanent residency.

• Current NZ Driver’s License.
