A large-scale marine and logistics organisation is seeking an experienced HSSEQ Specialist to drive safety performance across operations.

About the role

Working for a highly diverse and successful maritime and logistics business, you support ongoing safety performance/initiatives. In order to be successful in this position, you must have a proven track record of successful, preferably within a high-risk industrial setting.

Reporting to the VP - Logistics, you will assist in the implementation of the HSEQ strategy at an operational level. Engaging with a diverse workforce you will drive best practice and further develop the HSEQ culture. It is essential that you have a strong understanding of HSEQ Legislation, as well as the proven ability to engage and influence at all levels within the organisation.

Duties will include:

• Lead incident investigations, guiding site management and staff through analysis methodologies and identifying remedial actions

• Provide direction to management and supervisors assisting with the implementation of a positive HSSEQ culture.

• Manage assurance processes.

• Participate in setting the overall HSEQ strategy and responsible for directing managers to assure complete implementation within the site.

• Coach and mentor site management and supervisors to understand and implement zero harm management strategies.

• Oversee the creation and delivery of HSEQ training programmes and initiatives

• Provide a high level of technical expertise and assurance.

Skills and experience to include:

• Tertiary qualification in HSEQ or

• Tertiary (non-trade) qualification with recognised tertiary qualification (Post Grad Diploma in Health & Safety or NEBOSH etc.).

• Significant experience in health and safety of which 5 years in an HSE advisory role.

• Experience of working within heavy industry (e.g. Oil & Gas, Marine, Mine, Port, Power Generation, Manufacturing)

• High level engagement/communication skills, able to coach, influence and drive change.

• Commercially aware with business acumen
