An industry leading Marine and logistics company is seeking an experienced specialist to drive its Food Safety strategy and performance across the business. The organisation has an award-winning safety program that has been recognised internationally.

About the role

As a Safety – HSSEQ Specialist, you will be responsible for HACCP/Food Safety strategy implementation on site. You will manage the assurance processes driving sustained improvements and achieving a positive HACCP/Food Safety process culture.

Crucially you will provide technical guidance to line management functions, assisting with the development and execution of the HACCP/Food Safety strategic plan. This will enable company to achieve its Health and Safety goals.

Reporting to the VP - Logistics, you will assess performance ensuring that site management maintain compliance against regulatory, contractual, company and industry best practice.

It is essential that you have a strong knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety Legislation. You will also be familiar with ISO 22001, able to ensure compliance against this standard.

Duties will include:

• Provide direction to site management, ensuring regulatory compliance and responding to any nonconformance in a timely and adequate manner.

• Participate in setting the overall HACCP / Food Safety strategy. You will also support operational managers, ensuring that they are aware of their responsibilities.

• Lead incident investigations, guiding site management and staff through casual analysis methodologies to validate systems failures, root causes, and remedial measures to minimise risk exposure and operating costs.

• Undertake identified corrective actions, mitigating HACCP / Food Safety risks

• Oversee the creation and delivery of HACCP / Food Safety training programmes

• Provide high level technical expertise and input to managers and supervisors where required.

Skills and experience to include:

• Tertiary qualification in Food Science/ Safety or Microbiology or equivalent; or

• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety with a recognised Food Safety Certification (L4 or equivalent with HACCP application).

• Significant experience in HACCP / Food Safety profession of which 5 years in foodstuffs / distribution industry.

• At least 3 years demonstratable experience in a Supervisory role.

• Previous Middle East working experience would be highly beneficial.
