About the role

This 12-month fixed-term role offers an exciting opportunity for a Senior Health and Safety professional to deliver a comprehensive Critical Risk Framework within a large organisation.

Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety, and Wellbeing, you will manage one direct report and work with diverse teams to implement consistent controls, monitor their effectiveness, and improve health and safety outcomes.

Duties

• Implement the approved project plan, delivering measurable outcomes that align with regulatory and operational objectives.

• Develop a comprehensive Critical Risk Framework, including creating standards, guidance, and monitoring systems to ensure the effectiveness of controls.

• Build strong relationships with leadership teams, operational staff, and external partners to foster engagement and alignment with safety initiatives.

• Promote a culture of health and safety excellence by embedding sustainable practices, driving continuous improvement, and supporting the adoption of new safety processes.

Skills and experience

Success in this role requires expertise in critical risk management, strong project management skills, and the ability to engage and influence key stakeholders at all levels. With a focus on change management, you will ensure people remain central to the process, collaborating with executive leadership to foster engagement and drive support for the project.

Highly organised and adaptable, you bring strong communication, facilitation, and time management skills. Your solutions-focused mindset, resilience, and commitment to organisational values will drive meaningful improvements and lasting change.

• Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety is essential

• Practical and working knowledge/understanding of the NZ HSWA 2015 and associated regulations, guidelines and codes of practice

• Demonstrated success in coaching and guiding change

• Proven experience in critical risk management at a senior level
