About Us:

Eastland Generation is a growing renewable energy business with geothermal power stations as well as a hydroelectric station in Wairoa and soon to be commissioned solar power station in Tairāwhiti. Plus we're expanding!

We are owned by Eastland Group, a major infrastructure company headquartered in Gisborne, operating Eastland Port and Gisborne Airport.

About the role:

As our H&S Specialist you'll play a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety, ensure legislative compliance, raise safety awareness, monitor performance, and maintain and influence a proactive safety culture. Your focus is on the safety of our team, contractors, visitors and stakeholders at our three Major Hazard Facility geothermal power stations in Kawerau, and our hydro and solar facilities.

Key responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and manage health and safety procedures, policies, systems, and processes in compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and company requirements.

Conduct and/or coordinate incident investigations, record and analyse data to identify trends, and propose solutions to prevent future occurrences.

Foster a culture of safety and wellbeing through active engagement with all personnel, promoting awareness, implementing initiatives and programmes, and personal responsibility for safety.

Conduct health and safety audits, employing your expertise to drive continuous enhancements across the organisation.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of health and safety activities, including incident reports, risk assessments, and safety inspections.

About you:

We are looking for a person that isn't afraid to get on with the job, has attention to detail, and enjoys variety in a role. Along with this, to succeed in this role you'll have:

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to motivate others and achieve genuine engagement and support for safety across all levels.

At least 2 years' experience in a related role, within a relevant industry.

Thorough working knowledge of health and safety legislation including major hazard facilities

A relevant tertiary qualification.
