Our client is seeking a truly experienced and qualified Health and Safety Manager - strategic thought leadership through to implementation.

The Company

Our client is a national (government) organisation with an extremely large number of employees and growing.

With a high-risk profile and already focussed on critical risk, there is a real need to ensure all systems and procedures (including Wellness) are aligned and integrated into all core operational activities.

The Role

This role requires previous Health and Safety experience in a complex and large organisation.

The purpose of this position is to drive a strong health and safety culture, provide strategic thought leadership in health and safety, translate strategic intent into advice, plans, programmes of work and assurance to the Executive Leadership Board on all matters relating to safety and health from a risk management perspective.

Reporting to the National Manager Wellness and Safety, you will provide the overall strategic direction and follow through with regards to implementation, focusing on key areas as identified.

Duties

* Proactively manage all areas of safety management system

* Provide the strategic overview for health and safety from a risk perspective

* Build relationships across the organisation and support a high performing team ensuring an innovative approach with operational consideration

* Be completely solution orientated

* Work collaboratively with subject matter experts (internal and external)

* Build capability to develop a strong safety culture with a focus on education, prevention and participation

Skills and Experience

* Relevant tertiary qualification (minimum Diploma OHS)

* Robust Health and Safety leadership experience within a complex, high-risk organisation

* Excellent strategic, analytical and research skillset in order to deliver innovative best practice initiatives

* Superb communication skillset, both written and verbal

* Proven ability in building robust relationships

* Experience working within a continuous improvement environment

* Considered and respected contributor to Health and Safety within the workplace

* You will be an influential, energetic, dynamic safety and wellbeing subject matter expert

* Previous experience in managing, supporting and encouraging direct reports within a large organisation
