Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing, this people and technical leadership role is responsible for managing the corporate health and safety advisory team.

Overall responsibility includes ensuring corporate systems, arrangements and processes are in place for Health and Safety, including the Occupational Health component.

Duties include

* Deliver an effective corporate health and safety function, focussed on building capability in the business

* Lead the HSW Advisors to achieve a fully integrated approach, including effective rehabilitation and injury management

* Assist in providing strong, cohesive and collaborative leadership of the HSW team

* Deputise as appropriate for the Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing

* Support the development of the ‘Safety Differently’ approach

* Develop, support and mentor the HSW team

* Provide for a continuous improvement environment

* Ensure effective service delivery

* Manage performance of staff to ensure requirements are met

* Develop people leaders and senior leaders within the organisation, through coaching, mentoring and safety leadership to lift capability

* Provide solutions and challenge the norm in an appropriate manner

* Suggest and encourage new ideas and approaches

* Reporting, covering key HSW metrics

* Support the Senior Strategic Advisor to ensure delivery of the assurance programme – meeting requirements of framework

Skills and experience

* Significant experience in Health and Safety Management

* Experienced with managing a team, preferably in a large, complex organisation

* Proactive, positive, resilient and solutions focussed

* Proven ability in developing effective relationships

* In depth knowledge of legislation and best practice

* Knowledge of ISO 18001, 45001 and HSG65

* Robust management of auditing systems and reporting of such

* Exceptional experience with implementing health and safety to reinforce culture change

* Excellent ability with Microsoft Office applications

* Highly organised

* Strong customer service delivery ethic

* Project Management capability with strong analytical skillset

* Working knowledge of Risk Manager or equivalent
