We are looking for an influential Leader to drive strategic and operational health and safety and own safety behaviour development
About the role
Reporting to the General Manager – People and Culture, this role is an opportunity to own behavioural change and really drive a positive, safety-focussed culture. With a thorough knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety compliance and legislation, you will lead and manage the strategic approach, reporting and all activities in relation to the safety management system.
Develop a cohesive team, with a customer focussed approach, to educate staff; support managers; foster a culture of continual improvement and engage best practise across the business.
Duties
• Lead and manage the Health and Safety department to ensure efficient knowledge and skills across the team
• Support, review and manage direct reports
• Develop and implement HSW strategy and annual work plans
• Provide practical and expert advice to the HS Committee and Executive Leadership Team to continuously improve Health and Safety performance
• Deliver expert legislative and best practice advice to and maintain contact with all stakeholders
• Ongoing review and improvement of practises and policies
• Establish and assess lead and lag performance indicators for trends analysis
• Ensure all managers, employees and relevant others are aware of their Health and Safety responsibilities
• Manage the HSW budget
• Provide quarterly reports to the Board
Skills and experience
• Tertiary qualification in OHS
• Significant management or senior advisory experience in a similar organisation
• Demonstrated ability of leading and influencing skills
• An understanding of strategic and operational Health and Safety
• Experience reporting at an Executive and Board level
• Strong written and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and people skills
