About the role

Edenfx is proud to be partnering with this multinational mining organisation on a key contract hire. Following a recent internal promotion process our client is seeking an experienced leader to provide BAU coverage for a 3-5 months. You will be primarily responsible for leading the Health, Safety and Training function of the operation, driving performance and engagement. You will be a collaborative team player, able to confidently contribute to the site management team and engage with front line operations. Although previous mining experience isn’t essential you will need to confident operating is high risk industrial setting. A thorough working knowledge of HSWA 2015 and prior team leadership experience is essential.

The role is based in the Western Bay of Plenty region. It’s a 24/7 operation with significant high-risk activities. Our client has a strong safety track record and a highly engaged, value led culture.

Duties

• Operate as part of the site management team, providing BAU safety leadership

• Successfully line manage the health, safety and training team

• Develop and manage health, safety (including training) programmes

• Manage, monitor and review the H&S management system including robust inspection and audits, ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements

• Identification and evaluation of H&S risks, and in conjunction with the site management team produce appropriate risk management strategies

• Ensure emergency structures, response plans and resources are in place

• Develop and manage site training systems and delivery to ensure compliance with HSWA 2015 regulations

• Be accountable for bringing to life the Group and Operation strategy

• Report to GM of Operations

Skills and experience

Proven leadership, communication and influencing skills are essential in this role. You will have the ability to adapt your approach to suit your audience. As the safety SME for the site, strong technical skills and extensive high-risk experience is essential.
