About the Role

As a key member of the Works Management team, the Health and Safety Manager reports directly to the Works Manager and is responsible to lead the safety & wellbeing, hazardous substances and risk management for this busy 24/7 operation. Our Health and Safety Manager has been seconded for 18 months to another project, so we’re looking for an experienced and passionate health and safety professional, who’s looking for an opportunity to get into an awesome organisation.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership & expertise across the full range of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing portfolio

• Work collaboratively with the management team to reach the operational goals

• Building key stakeholder relationships on site to enhance the H&S culture

• Improvement of H&S processes & systems, seeking opportunities to improve H&S performance

• Collaboration with Ravensdown’s wider S&W network and companywide project work

Skills & Experience:

• A passion for Health & Safety and proven experience at a senior level.

• An understanding of Safety Two principles, with demonstrable success leading H&S performance.

• Being able to communicate with care, influence, with a strong customer focus & proven experience building trusting relationships with stakeholders e.g. staff, contractors, consultants, and community.

• A track record working collaboratively, gaining buy-in and achieving outcomes.

• Experience working in busy environments, preferably within heavy industry or manufacturing.

• Comprehensive understanding of the NZ H&S legislation, knowledge of hazardous substances regulations, an interest in ISO type systems, plus experience leading risk management processes.

• A high level of verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
