About the role

With fundamentals in place and the successful shift from paper-based to online safety management, this is an exciting time to join our client in developing successful processes to suit the different needs of their business.

Enthusiastic health and safety reps and team leaders are ready to go and this role will be instrumental in mentoring them and improving a solid safety culture following a period of growth for the company.

The successful applicant will work alongside the managers and operations staff of each business unit to ensure HSE is fit for purpose and aligned with business objectives.

Duties

· Oversee the implementation of HSE policies

· Coordinate and review contractor management requirements

· Mentor and oversee HSE committee

· Manage chemical and dangerous goods

· Advise investigation team and lead/assist as required

· Develop relationships with external stakeholders such as Civil Defence

· Analyse and report to board on safety trends

· Advise and take part in tender process for HSE compliance

· Oversee site audits

Skills and experience

This role requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate across all sectors of the business and with outside agencies. Calm in a busy work environment, you will prioritise well, knowing when to delegate successfully.

With a flexible and collaborative approach, you will have proven experience in identifying gaps and developing systems to suit different needs. One size does not fit all in this multi-faceted business.

· Relevant HSE qualification (diploma preferred)

· ICAM Certified

· Comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of NZ HSE regulations.

· Experience in a similar, multi-site role

· Transport experience is desirable

· Excellent IT skills required with experience in analysing and reporting data trends

· Registration with a relevant professional body
