Our food manufacturing client requires an experienced Health and Safety Manager who will make a strong contribution to their high performing leadership team.

The Role

Our food manufacturing client requires an experienced Health and Safety Manager who will make a strong risk and assurance contribution to their newly created Health and Safety leadership team. The position requires previous Health and Safety experience in a complex and large organisation.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer you will provide the overall strategic direction for the company and follow through with regards to planning, implementation and evaluation, focusing on key areas of critical risk.

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of Health, Safety and Wellness, working hard to integrate systems throughout the organisation, utilising strong engagement and influencing skills at all levels. Communication will come easily to you, as will your clear and innovative delivery of Health and Safety. In this role you will be working for sustainable initiatives while embedding a culture of responsibility and accountability.

Duties include

· Develop and sustain proactive safety and health behaviours

· Improve outcomes/results year on year

· Lead all health and Safety related projects

· Deliver Key Result Areas as identified

· Actively function as an integrated member of the executive safety team delivering site and company best practice results

· Apply continuous improvement principles to drive results

· Meet both internal and external audit requirements

· Participate and contribute to the wider business goals

Skills and experience required

· Relevant qualification (i.e. minimum OHS Diploma)

· Health and safety experience in a food manufacturing environment

· Proven experience with influencing to ensure site personnel take personal ownership and accountability of safety, health and environment

· Ability to lead culture change through influence

· Excellent communication skills – written and verbal

· Proven ability to deliver on agreed objectives

· Strong and practical/working knowledge of NZ legislation
