Here at New Plymouth District Council we are on a journey to become the leaders in contemporary local government. To do this we need great people on board to ensure we succeed. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced health and safety professional to join us and lead our Health and Safety team.

Reporting to the Group Manager People and Capability, you will lead operational health and safety initiatives, driving the safety culture here at NPDC and support us in making health and safety a part of business as usual. Growing capability whilst building strong relationships and influencing change will be like second nature to you as you support the Executive Leadership team to implement strategy and ensure that appropriate health and safety procedures are in place to manage risk. As well as providing key technical advice to the Mayor and Councillors to meet their due diligence obligations.

Ideally you will come to us with a relevant tertiary qualification and at least 10 years' experience in a senior health and safety role with proven ability to drive change and lead others. You will have well developed political acumen, be business savvy and have the ability to communicate complex issues in a simple but persuasive manner.
