A well-established NZ manufacturing identity with global reach, our client employs over 600 staff and operates 24 hours a day. Emission certified, they place a great deal of importance on sustainability, the environment and the health, safety and wellbeing of their workforce.

About the role

This is an opportunity to further your career in health, safety and wellbeing with a supportive Health and Safety Manager whom you’ll work closely with, gaining the benefit of their knowledge and mentorship. There’s opportunity to work on projects and you won’t be left behind the desk to do the admin.

You’ll also work closely with both the operational staff and department managers to champion safety and ensure systems and processes are up to date and relevant to the business, as well as:

• Assist with contractor management

• Maintain registers and SharePoint data

• Support investigations and audits

• Assist with injury management and return to work programmes

Overall this is an opportunity to gain exposure to varied duties, touching on all aspects of health, safety and wellbeing in a manufacturing environment and gain solid skills and experience.

About you

Ideally, you’ll have a couple of years’ experience on your CV in a related role, but we can also consider a graduate just starting out in their HSE career. It’s a fast-paced environment, so you have to be able to adapt to change and keep your cool.

You must be comfortable communicating across all levels of the business and any experience you’ve had in writing processes, SOP’s and other safety documents will be a benefit. A thirst for learning, flexibility and the drive to get stuff done are all important to this role, along with:

• Basic working knowledge of the HSWA

• Relevant qualification is desirable

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including PowerPoint and Visio

• Flexibility to attend night shift when required
