The Role

ConneXu is a highly reputable charitable trust based in the Waikato/King Country and Bay of Plenty which facilitates support alongside people with intellectual disabilities, head injuries and physical disabilities, supporting them to live their life their way.

We have a great opportunity to join our team in the Bay of Plenty region. This role is a critical position in the organisations People, Projects, and Safety Team and assists our Compliance Manager in ensuring all health and safety functions for the organisation are carried out effectively.

The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for:

• Ensuring fire drills are completed in all Bay of Plenty homes

• Completing new staff health and safety inductions and refresher training

• Ordering and Maintaining emergency and first aid supplies

• Ensuring vehicle checks and vehicle inductions are completed on a regular basis

• Carrying out and facilitating health and safety administrative tasks

• Developing, reviewing, and maintaining SOP’s and Work Instructions where necessary.

• Completing accident investigations and risk assessments

• Monthly health and safety reporting

• Maintaining organisational accident registers and hazard registers for the Bay of Plenty region

• Attending staff meetings to report investigation outcomes and health and safety information

• Participate in continuous improvement or strategic goals as requested by the Compliance Manager

• Completing site visits and audits as directed by the Compliance Manager

• Maintain documentation relevant to health and safety

The Person

We are looking for a person who has a passion for working in a team environment and in partnership with others but can also work well autonomously.

The right candidate will:

• Have at least two years’ experience in a health and safety related role

• Have experience in carrying out accident investigations and risk assessments

• Ability to train and educate others in health and safety

• Have excellent practical knowledge of health and safety systems
