The role

As a key business partner within the Health and Safety Team, you will report to the Health, Safety & Compliance Manager and be instrumental in minimising exposure and managing from a risk perspective – with a focus on the MHF requirements and Hazardous Substances.

You will provide leadership and be responsible for the provision of Health and Safety Services, advice and support to various business units within NZ and accountable for delivering high quality Health and Safety related operational and project outcomes, consistent with business objectives and strategies.

Duties to include:

• Work collaboratively with the business to achieve the delivery of HS targets

• Support the Manager with implementation and innovative solutions

• Deliver/implement health and safety processes and strategies

• Focus on hazardous substances and MHF requirements

• Proactive auditing at site level and reporting in a timely manner

• Incident reporting and investigations

• Statistical reporting and incident database maintenance

• Communication, education and promotion of all things Health and Safety related

• Integrate and embed risk management throughout all operational activities to embed as BAU

• Site visits, proactive monitoring, risk assessments and supporting the implementation of recommendations to close out

Skills and experience (must have):

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written

• Strong, confident relationship building skillset

• Experienced in risk assessment, job safety analysis process

• Proven ability to drive the safety culture within a similar environment

• Professional yet approachable, proactive and pragmatic attitude

• Full understanding of legislation – HSNO / MHF experience

• Strong and proven ability to influence, mentor and educate

• Relevant OHS qualification and certifications

• Internal auditing and investigation experience

• Proficient in Word and Excel

• Member of a professional safety association, undergoing CPD
