Our food manufacturing client requires a Health and Safety Advisor who will make a strong contribution to the Health and Safety team and on site.

This role covers the site based in Wiri, with an opportunity to be part of an excellent team and gain further skills to support the site.

About the role

As the Health and Safety Advisor with previous experience in manufacturing or similar, the purpose of the role is to support best practice health and safety strategies and systems, working alongside all levels and supporting the Health and Safety Manager.

Communication will come easily to you, as will your clear and innovative delivery of Health and Safety. In this role you will be working for sustainable initiatives while helping to embed a culture of responsibility and accountability.

Duties include:

• Provide health and safety support and advice to all stakeholders

• Support culture change through coaching

• Implement health and safety strategies and systems, working to best practice model

• Provide oversight and technical expertise

• Ensure strong management of potential catastrophic, acute, chronic and occupational hygiene risks

• Work alongside the health and safety team to develop and refresh the strategy and associated supporting activity

• Ensure fit for purpose solutions are identified to control risk

Skills and experience include:

• Qualification in Health and Safety

• Practical working knowledge of NZ legislation

• Influential, motivating - can do attitude

• Great energy and engagement skillset

• Proactive and outcome focussed

• Ability to train, coach and mentor

• Strong attention to detail and highly computer literate

• Experience within a production orientated environment

• Excellent communication skillset – both written and oral
