Key to success is a proven track record in managing risk in complex operational environments, formulating strategy and creating frameworks, and applying them in a meaningful way in a large operational organisation.

This is an opportunity to take ownership for building and improving the culture and strategy of health safety and security practices in an organisation dedicated to the safety and well-being of New Zealand's tamariki.
Purpose of the role
The Health, Safety and Security team, through innovative and best practice frameworks, provide Oranga Tamariki - Ministry for Children with specialist advice, best practice and support to ensure that our people and those we work with stay safe and secure, and can continue to operate critical services in the event of a disruption.
The Head of Health, Safety and Security will work diligently with the executive team, senior leaders and managers across the organisation to develop and advance the Oranga Tamariki, health, safety and security strategy, frameworks and standards.
•To deliver the health, safety and security strategy through a multi-year roadmap of initiative and development activities
•To advance performance through improved health and safety management systems, complying with National standards and other legislation
•To act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, and DCE Corporate Services to establish/encourage appropriate behavioural and cultural leavers to achieve a further step change in improvements to health, safety and security, and to support the resolution of complex problems
