Our client is New Zealand’s largest community-based service provider and they are in need of an experienced Risk and Safety Manager

The company and the role:

As NZ’s largest community-based service provider, our client provides services nationwide, with over 4,000 employees, supported by a large number of volunteers.

This role will be pivotal to ensure the effective delivery of group wide health and safety initiatives, in order to address risk priorities and you will assist the Executive Team in the development and implementation of the nationwide risk management programme and health and safety strategy.

The successful candidate will lead and embed the cultural change programme required to manage group risks, including health and safety risks to its staff, volunteers, Service Users and others that are engaged during the course of their work.

You will also provide a strong level of support to all stakeholders (internal and external), to continually improve health and safety performance and create a culture of safety, through coaching, developing and championing strategies that will ensure our client achieves its health and safety goals and objectives.

The role will take overall management of the Risk, Health and Safety team as direct reports as well as oversee all risk and safety systems and processes.

Skills and experience include:

* Tertiary qualification in Risk, Occupational Health and Safety etc.

* A willingness to develop, coach and support staff to ensure their skill/knowledge base continues to grow

* An unequivocal commitment to the health and safety of staff, service users and contractors

* Previous experience in a similar and complex organisation

* Excellent knowledge of legislation/dealing with the regulator – WorkSafe NZ

* Effective communication skillset – both written and verbal

* Ability to prioritise, plan and at times work to tight deadlines in a changing environment

* Strategic leadership experience is a must

* Proven ability in leading a team of health and safety practitioners

* The ability to analyse data and trends

* An excellent level of systems management experience
