About the company

Based in Tauranga, our client operates a successful electrical generation and retail business in various parts of New Zealand, with their purpose being to improve the lives of people in the communities they serve, by providing access to utilities that deliver comfort, convenience, connectivity, and value.

Within the generation business there are approx. 165 team members who work within 13 schemes, servicing around 47 power stations in various locations around New Zealand – mainly the middle belt of the North Island and also dotted around the South Island.

About the role

As part of the wider Environmental Team, reporting to the Lead Advisor, this role supports and advises on a variety of areas, including resource consent, compliance and environmental projects.

The successful candidate will

Prepare resource consent applications

Coordinate technical assessments to support consent

Work alongside and in support of external stakeholders

Review and analyse technical environmental reports

Coordinate resource consent processes to support environmental projects

To be considered for this role candidates must have exceptional engagement and communication skills and be able to work across multi-stakeholder projects. Highly self-motivated, you will have excellent time management skills and be able to drive projects with minimal reliance on others, applying a positive, ethical and effective approach at all times.

Candidates are required to have

Tertiary qualification in Resource Management or related disciplines

Practical understanding of the Resource Management Act, Treaty of Waitangi and Local Government Act.

Working knowledge of ISO14001:2015

Proven experience in planning, resource consenting or the RMA field
