For almost 20 years, Rubbish Direct has built up and established a market leading position in Auckland providing commercial recycling and rubbish collection services that are designed around the needs and wants of our customers. We are a family operated business located in West Auckland.

We now have a great opportunity for an Environmental and Health and Safety Manager to join our team.

The role involves oversight in ensuring Rubbish Direct complies with all our environmental and health and safety regulations, accreditations and company policies.

Our goal is to be the best in our industry at what we do, we recognise that to achieve this we need the best people combined with the best systems and processes.

You will be working very closely with the General Manager and all other Departmental Managers in our business. This position requires a hands-on approach and is best suited to someone who has a know-how, can do attitude and the ability to drive continuous improvement.

Some of the key areas that you will be focused on are:

1. Ensuring our people are engaged, feel valued and are trained appropriately in all aspects of Health and Safety

2. Working with and coaching the Department Managers, ensuring any Health and Safety requirements and processes are done in accordance with the Health and Safety Work Act

3. Ensuring that company policies and procedures are reviewed, developed and updated regularly, to ensure compliance with Health and Safety Work Act, accreditations and company requirements

4. Ensure external audit readiness and that they are organised and completed in a timely manner. This currently includes ISO 45001 and ISO 14001

Ideally, you will have the following experience and skills:

1. Understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act

2. 2 - 3 + years working within Environmental and / or Health and Safety

3. Experience working towards Environmental and Health and Safety objectives / targets

4. Advanced administration skills and experience with policies and procedures

5. Some understanding / involvement in ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 (not mandatory)
