Branch Manager At Legal Safe Conference

By NZISM Secretary

Yesterday I attended the Legal Safe conference in Auckland. There was a good turn out, as you would expect with the due date for the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 looming closer. Personally, I found the early morning session not applicable to me as it dealt mainly with large organisations, however, there were plenty of questions from the floor. Mike Cosman spoke about paperwork. Is it good, bad or otherwise. I enjoyed the presentation on bullying. It is a hot topic at the moment. Andrew Scott-Howman, barrister from Port Nicholson Chambers endorsed the Guidelines. He also gave some case studies on situations that were badly handled. The biggest take away for me was how much work needs to be put into developing a robust risk management framework and due diligence programme. Start planning now!
