Grant Nicholson, Partner at Anthony Harper and NZISM Board Member, will be our guest at this meeting. Grant is one of NZ's most prominent H&S defence lawyers and can provide some insight into what constitutes evidence in court. This will complement the direction the forum takes on SSSP's.
Grant will join us for 15-20 mins to engage in a relaxed Q&A so come prepared with questions related to demonstrating compliance.
After the Q&A the group will discuss forming a sub-group to drive the on-going work we are doing and also decide on the next piece of work to tackle.
NZISM kicked off the ‘Sector Forum’ initiative in 2021 to provide an opportunity outside of regular branch events for members to network and discuss common challenges and opportunities in their respective sector. The forums involve a regular Zoom call, where peers can share and learn in a familiar environment which will grow the collective might of the sector.
Darach Cassidy is the Chair of this forum and he encourages anyone in the construction sector who wants to challenge the status quo and identify better ways of working to move our stubbornly high fatality rates, to join in on the conversation.
Darach is the Group Health and Safety Manager at Classic Group and he leads a team of health and safety professionals who support the different business units that make up the Classic Group. He provides direct support to the Classic senior leadership team and directors on Group health and safety strategy and governance.
Darach’s practice is built on his trade background coupled with the latest evidence-based thinking on organisational health and safety management. His beliefs are aligned with Classic Group as thinking of health and safety as a function of good business, with a focus on robust systems, growing people and creating capacity to complete successful work.
