In November 2016, a tram overturned at Sandilands, South London tragically resulting in the loss of seven lives and many more life-changing injuries. This webinar recounts the circumstances of the incident and focuses on the challenging personal and organisational factors at play immediately after an event of this magnitude. We will also explore the principal lessons following the independent investigation and the relevance those issues have across different industry sectors.


Presenter Bio

Rob Mair is the GM Health Safety Environment & Sustainability for City Rail Link Limited. With 25 years’ experience managing complex safety, health, security and environmental issues in transport operations, Rob’s focus lies in the design and implementation of end-user centric HSSE management systems and managing HSSE improvement initiatives and advisory services to achieve world-class organisational culture and performance. At the time of the 2016 incident, Rob was the TfL Senior HSE Manager for London Overground. His role was expanded to cover the London Trams team shortly after the incident and he continued supporting that team throughout the investigation until his move to New Zealand in 2018.
