SafePlus is the new voluntary, health and safety performance improvement toolkit. Launched in the later part of 2017 this joint initiative from WorkSafe, ACC and MBIE is intended to give organisations insights into their safety systems and practice to support continuous improvement. The SafePlus onsite assessment and advisory service is already operating and the online self-assessment component of the system is due to be launched later this year.Northlands three current Accredited SafePlus Assessors will be giving us an overview of the onsite assessment system and how it differs from the previous ACC WSMP scheme.
Pete Litchfield
Pete has been assisting Northland organisations with their health and safety since 2012, formally as an advisor, auditor and trainer for one of New Zealand’s largest H&S Organisations (SiteSafe NZ) and more recently via his own consultancy Cube H&S Ltd. In addition to auditing the Northland operations of many large NZ organisations, Pete has assisted many companies with improving the efficiency of their safety systems.
Shona Kelly
Shona is an accredited SafePlus Assessor under the new Worksafe NZ/ACC/MBIE programme. Shona has several decades of experience, including Occupational Health Nurse, HSE Inspector, Lead Auditor, ACC External Auditor, and as a Consultant personalising H&S systems, providing assessments, audits, in-house training, workplace investigations, mediation, coaching and support for a wide range of workers and organisations.
Lee Hanna
Health & Safety, Quality Consultant and Auditor, Lee has added SafePlus Assessor to her portfolio. Lee has been consulting in Northland for almost a decade, starting with installing and training H&S systems and moving to include QA and auditing. Her experience includes aviation, contracting, adventure tourism, horticulture, and latterly asbestos removal. Lee enjoys preparing companies for compliance and believes that is the start on the journey to excellence!
