The Masterclass comprises TWO workshops: a half-day in-person workshop to show you how to conduct a psychosocial risk assessment in your workplace, and a two-hour online follow-up workshop to help you with follow through from your risk assessment and next actions.
The Masterclass leads on from the success of our introductory workshops to psychosocial risk, which were last year.
Feedback from participants was, "it was great, I understand what 'mentally healthy work' could look like now but how do I apply these ideas to my own organisation?"
In response, Umbrella Wellbeing and NZISM have designed the Masterclass to give you the practical tools, knowledge and support to make a difference in your own workplace.PhD, PGDipClinPsyc, BA(Hons), MNZCCP
Dougal has been working as a clinical psychologist for over 20 years and is the CEO of Umbrella Wellbeing. Dougal’s work providing psychological support to workplaces and employees has seen him assist an array of organisations, including government departments and private companies. This work has taken him around the country and around the world, providing help to everyone from stressed-out bureaucrats in Wellington, to victims of car-jackings, and people living in a constant state of fear due to impending missile attacks.
Dougal has a passion for making psychology more accessible to the general public and has worked with the media in print, radio, and TV. His skill at translating expert psychological knowledge into accessible learning experiences contributes to Dougal’s training expertise, and his ability to support individual clients to make effective changes.

Barbara has loved positive psychology as an empowering and effective approach since the start of her career as a clinical psychologist. In addition to her clinical psychology work, she brings a decade of experience in individual coaching of executives around stress management, self-care and wellbeing (for themselves and their teams), plus wide-ranging facilitation experience in workplace mental health.
Barbara spent the last 11 years working in private practice in Sydney. Here she worked with people across a wide range of ages, cultures, life situations and mental health difficulties and saw first-hand the impact of both positive and challenging work environments on people’s wellbeing. Barbara has also worked with the renowned Black Dog Institute facilitating workshops on building mental health, wellbeing and resilience across many different sizes and types of workplaces.
Barbara is a trained mindfulness teacher and has a strong interest in the neuroscience associated with psychological resilience and wellbeing, which is emerging from studies on mindfulness.
