Dr Stephven Kolose, Chair of the Human Factors and Ergonomics
Society of New Zealand will be joining us to discuss the role of
Ergonomists. When, why and how you’d engage an Ergonomist to support you
and your workplace.
Stephen is a Principal Ergonomist at Construction Health and Safety New Zealand (CHASNZ). His passion for human factors and ergonomics (HFE) stemmed from curiosity about poor design in cockpits, and workplace injuries observed when working in the meat works as a student.
He worked as an Ergonomist (WorkSafe NZ), Human factors scientist (NZDF), Research associate (Sports Performance Research Institute, AUT) and HF consultant in Bristol and New Zealand. He holds a PhD in Anthropometry (developed a 3D body sizing survey to estimate military clothing size and fit), MSc in Ergonomics (studying HF integration among ergonomists, designers, engineers and safety teams at Rolls Royce Submarine division, UK), PGDipErg, and BSc in Psychology.
Stephven was recently appointed as Chair of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of New Zealand (HFESNZ) where he intends to help foster positive collaborations with ‘like-minded’ professions in New Zealand.

Thank you for joining the Women in Safety Excellence (WISE) network.
We hold various online and face-to-face events throughout the year and if one occurs near you, we would love to meet you in person.
LinkedIn - Please make sure you join our LinkedIn group to stay connected and on top of our planned webinars and events. We encourage you to post anything in the WISE group page that you think other network members would find useful or inspiring. Please don't be shy. The more we reach out, the more we connect with each other, and the more we can help each other on our journeys.
We might send you the occasional email but our web page on the NZISM website is always the best place to go for an overview of what's coming up in the WISE calendar.
Best wishes,
