Tauranga Branch: Networking Workshop

An evening of personal development to build awareness, confidence, and connection.

For some people, picking up the phone or organising a coffee meeting in order to 'pick somebody's brains' is easy. They have built a network of people with whom they have an easy, professional relationship. After all, nobody knows everything, right? But for many of us, it doesn't come easily; it takes a degree of courage to 'put yourself out there'. It also takes awareness to know who might have the information or insights we need in the first place.

Networking is important within your department, your organisation and the wider OHS sector. It is a key aspect of NZISM (branch events, Peer Support Network, and online sector forums are all examples) but we want to strengthen this further. We want to give all members the tools to network comfortably, and to thrive both personally and professionally through the confidence and connectivity it can bring.

To this end, we are delighted to introduce you to high-performance coach and facilitator, Janet Hughes, who will be running a limited ticket Networking Workshop for Tauranga Branch members.

Janet Hughes

I have always been curious about people, what makes humans tick, how we respond to those around us and to our environment and certain situations. It’s no wonder then that I became a coach and facilitator!

Born in the UK, I migrated to New Zealand in 2006. My career has always been customer facing, spanning banking/financial services, high profile IT recruitment in the City of London and the human side of running my own businesses, including a software development company. I trained to become a coach in 2016 and have not looked back.

Most recently, I have become New Zealand’s first Spotlight Accredited Practitioner (www.mindflick.co.uk) which means I now have fantastic Profiling and Team Mapping tools as part of my offering. My life purpose is working with individuals, teams, or whole businesses to build a culture of empowerment and safety, where the head and heart are fully connected, where everyone can speak up and be heard and where personal and company values are lived.

The threads that bind my career and guide my life are my values: Love, Passion and Legacy – these also serve as my motivators, driving me to live the best life I can and to assist others to do the same.

The workshop is available to NZISM Bay of Plenty Branch members at just $30. We know some of you will be coming straight from work so please arrive 5:30pm onward and enjoy some of the finger food we will be putting on.

We are sure everyone will get a lot out of what promises to be a valuable and engaging evening.
