Information

Road Science is a leading designer and supplier of bitumen based products in New Zealand (the black stuff that roads are made from), with four IANZ accredited testing laboratories and four bitumen plants. There is a unique focus on innovation and collaboration and the company uses a fully integrated product development process to deliver superior road and pavement solutions for longer lasting roads across every New Zealand situation.

In 2018, it was discovered that there was a high risk of Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) exposure when making one of their products. H2S is a highly dangerous gas which can cause fatalities when exposed at high concentrations. Road Science swiftly went on a journey of eliminating that risk.
The Road Science team recently won the Safeguard Award for ‘Best Initiative to address a work-related Health Risk’
Speaker Bio:
Nik Vishwanath is a Process Engineer at Road Science and will present on how the problem was identified, the process of finding a suitable solution, the implementation of that solution and the implications of the project on the Road Science business.
