Understanding safety governance principles, developing and implementing effective safety governance frameworks, and understanding the safety governance maturity of an organisation, is incredibly important for health and safety professionals.
As health and safety professionals what do we need to do differently to be effective in our roles?
Directors and Officers have specific due diligence obligations under HSWA and play a key role in governing influence the tone and safety culture of an organisation. Governance practice includes active enquiry and good governance practices as well as safety leadership practices to influence organisational culture.
Effective Safety Governance ensures that Directors, CEOs and senior leaders have the framework, systems, processes, tools and knowledge in place to improve the health and safety performance of the organisations they govern and lead beyond compliance.
Do you need to get your board or senior management onboard for your health and safety journey and perhaps some guidance on how to start that conversation?
Margaret van Schaik will present via a Webinar for our March event. She has extensive experience of working in the health and safety governance area with boards, CEOs and senior leaders across a variety of sectors, and has kindly agreed to share some insights into what has worked for her in the past.
