Karl was the pioneer in onsite drug testing – founding director of one of the first On-site screening companies in New Zealand, this has made him the only person in New Zealand to achieve IANZ accreditation in two separate Drug testing companies in New Zealand, something that is a necessity to insure you are testing in accordance with the AS/NZ 2308:2008 standards.
Karl is often asked to give evidence in personal grievance cases regarding procedures and interpretation of the standards and how it relates to testing. Additionally, he has been a key speaker at workplace conferences and a consultant to lawyers, EMA (Employment Manufactures Association) and other organisations as an expert in Drug and Alcohol Testing. Karl is influential in the industry, and is a big advocate on ensuring that the standard in the industry is kept at the highest level. He has published several articles on social media sites and news websites regarding best practice and standard within the industry.
Karl is still very much hands-on and in his 15 years has seen the industry change and grow through case laws, including the introduction of the AS/NZ4308: 2008 Standards and technology.
Karl has been setting the standard and lifting the bar in the industry over the years by working closely alongside employers and other agencies and is now classed as one of the leading experts in his field. Karl is a great supporter of the work being done by organisations working with youth and schools and often offers his services to help. After seeing what a positive effect drug and alcohol education has had in the workplace and community, it is now his passion to help educate and reduce harm in the workplace, community and youth. Karl is now leading the charge at looking at Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation programsSite Safe
