Most current safety reporting systems are paper based, check list style, form filling, exercises. Often it is merely the number of reports filed that is the statistic they are audited against. Such systems then often require a minimum number of reports to be filed per month, which inevitably results in meaningless inventions and destroys the credibility of the system and lowers morale. In this session Nippin will draw from his ongoing research on reporting systems and provide an alternative perspective on how to turn safety reporting into reflective and learning opportunities.
Nippin Anand is a licensed Master Mariner and an internationally recognised specialist in human factors and safety management. His significant experience in the maritime, oil and gas sectors spans hands-on operations, academic research, consultancy, and certification and regulation. He is keenly sought both as a consultant and a guest speaker.
