On 22nd March one of New Zealand's earliest COVID-19 clusters was recorded at the Atawhai Assisi Rest Home. The virus had connected with one of our most vulnerable groups. In this webinar, the story of the outbreak is told by David McGeorge, General Manager Support Services, responsible for health and safety at the home. David will share how the outbreak put both Pandemic Planning and staff resilience to the ultimate test, and how his team managed the situation without the loss of life.
David moved into the Aged Care sector after a long career in banking. He served on the Board of Trustees for Tamahere Eventide Home Trust, (an outreach of the Methodist Church of New Zealand), before taking up his current role there as GM Support Services. The Trust employs 220 staff over two aged care facilities; this encompasses secure wings, a hospital and a 30acre Retirement Village in Tamahere.
