The enduring James Hardie Asbestos Legacy has left New Zealand and Australia with millions of square metres of asbestos cement; it's a substance that both tradesmen and DIYers are likely to come across. But what happens at that point? Does general 'asbestos awareness' ensure safe handling practices or should specialists always be called in? In this webinar, Alastair explains the current regulations and why he believes there are too many shades of grey eg. around the interpretation of the "10m² rule" and assumptions of "competence". It is, he claims, time for a review.

BIO:

Alastair is a H&S Consultant with a specialist interest in Asbestos Assessment and Management. His 30 years' experience spans Health and Safety, Health Rehabilitation (ACC), Recruitment and HR. Alastair's forte is developing, implementing and monitoring H&S Management Systems and helping businesses drive a leadership-led safety culture. But, above all, he is passionate about worker health.
