The withdrawal of WSMP by ACC left a significant void in the New Zealand market for a structured approach towards consistent review and improvement of Health & Safety performance for SME’s. As part of an enforceable undertaking Telarc was requested to support the development of a standard that could fill the void left by WSMP.
Working closely with ACC, Worksafe, and SME’s; Telarc has developed Q-Safe. Q-Safe is a standard which is included as a cross recognition pathway for pre-qualification in the Construction industry for low risk SME’s. This is part of the Totika initiative being implemented by CHASNZ. It is also a standard that is being adopted in other industries e.g. Engineering and Manufacturing.
Philip Cryer is the CEO of Telarc Limited. Telarc is New Zealand’s leading certifier of quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management systems, with offices throughout New Zealand.
Philip has been leading Telarc for the last 5 years. Over his career Philip has been involved in Telecommunications, Management Consultancy, FMCG and a variety of Treasury and Banking roles. Philip lives “off the grid” on Waiheke Island where he satisfies his curiosity to landscape and enhance the land.
